Burning Star 4
Green Energy Holdings has acquired slurry pits that hold 3 million or more tons of coal slurry, as well as a long-term lease on the land, at the site of the former Burning Star 4 mine in Perry County, Illinois. This project is in the permitting stage, and operations are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2012.
Old Ben 25
S.I. Energy, a Green Energy Holdings subsidiary, bought this abandoned mine site near West Frankfort, Illinois, in 2008. Green Energy Holdings began operations there in the summer of 2009. More than half a million tons of coal were produced and sold out of the slurry pit on the site. Production is complete, and the project is currently in the reclamation phase.
Other projects
Green Energy Holdings is developing a handful of additional projects in 2011. They are all in the planning, acquisition or permitting phases. We are also actively seeking new reserves of coal tailings throughout the United States and Canada.
